The clock ticked down and the Lady Leopards comfortably ran out the final seconds to earn a 52-37 victory at Charles “Red” Ash Gymnasium Wednesday evening.  For the third straight season the Lady Leopards finished their NBC schedule with a win over Canton South to clinch an NBC Championship.  With the victory, Louisville is now 15-6 overall and their 12-2 NBC record was good enough to give them a share of the league with West Branch.

South, who ran off the first 13 points in the game earlier at Louisville, took an early 6-2 advantage.  However, the next 29 minutes were all about the 2-time defending NBC Champions.  Monnot dropped home 3 baskets and Clara Beatty's Winter HoodiesLemmon added 2 to put Louisville up 10-8 after the first quarter.  Hannah Lemmon hit home 2 three-pointers in the second period that saw the Lady Leps score 18 points and take a double digit lead into the break.

Emily Hollifield poured in a game-high 18 points and Rachel Zeller also broke double-digits with 10 to lead the Lady Leopards JV squad past the Canton South Wildcats 46-41.

Louisville took charge of the game early by scoring the first eight points of the contest and built their lead to 12-2 after the first quarter.  But the Wildcats rallied back inch by inch and trimmed the Leopards lead down to 29-27 with under three minutes to go in the third quarter.

Louisville responded by going on an 11-0 run to close the third quarter and took a 40-27 lead into the final period.  A late 7-0 run by South closed the gap to 44-39, but the Leps did enough to finish off the Wildcats in the final quarter to improved to 17-3 overall and 12-1 in the NBC.

Jessica Hamsher also scored 6 and Morgan Paulus tallied 5 points early on in the contest to lead Louisville.

The victory gives the Lady Leopards their second NBC Title in as many years.  Last year they shared the title with West Branch, this year they stand alone atop the JV standings.
