Lady Leopards Get Back On Track at Canton South – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team dominated the host Canton South Wildcats 55-26 at Charles “Red” Ash Gymnasium Saturday Afternoon. With the victory, Louisville improves to 13-7 overall and 11-2 in the conference.
Sarah Lairson scored a game-high 14 points, recorded a game-high 4 steals, and pulled down a team-high 6 rebounds to lead the Lady Leopards. Danielle Walter also scored 10 points, Alexa Oberster finished with 8, and Abby Beaver dished out 10 assists.
Louisville took command of the game early in taking a 14-3 lead at the end of the first period. The Leopards also pulled ahead 25-11 by the break before dominating the third quarter 19-4. Louisville maintained their 29-point edge by playing an even fourth quarter after that.

The Leopards shot 43% (21 of 48) from the floor, while holding the Wildcats to only a 27% (8 of 29) shooting performance and no-three pointers (0 of 5). The two teams were identical in their rebounding both with 16 defensive boards and 8 offensive boards. The big difference in the game came on defense as Louisville finished with 17 steals. Ellie Jackson and Oberster also recorded 3 thefts each.
Canton South (7-13, 5-8) was led by Brooke Noll who finished with a team-high 8 points and a game-high 8 rebounds. Martin also scored 5 and Mitchell added 4.
With the victory, the Leopards have now defeated the Wildcats in 6 consecutive meetings including the last 3 at Red Ash Gymnasium. Louisville now leads the all-time series 64-24, which includes a 28-13 record at Canton South.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Carrollton Warriors on Wednesday, February 8 for Senior Night. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
