The Louisville Lady Leopards defeated the visiting Lake Blue Streaks 53-44 in their home opener at LHS Wednesday. With the victory, Louisville is now 1-1 on the young season.

Emily Hollifield poured in a team-high 18 points and Sarah Lairson dropped in 16 more to lead the Lady Beatty's Sports Long Sleeved Leopard NationLeopards. Hollifield and Lairson scored 8 points each in the third quarter that saw Louisville outscore Lake 18-11.

Abby Beaver was the motor that kept the Lady Leopards running all night as she dazzled the crowd with 10 assists. The Lady Leopards held a 30-22 edge on the boards for the night led by Grace Jackson and Lairson who grabbed 6 rebounds each. Sabryna Benzel also had 8 points and a game-high 4 steals. Louisville as a team produced 12 steals.

The Blue Streaks were led by Brandie Snow who finished with a game-high 22 points and a game-high 7 rebounds. Jessica Brinkley also scored 9 and Rachel Williams had 6.

The victory snaps a 4-game Lady Leopard losing streak overall and a 4-game losing streak against the Blue Streaks. Louisville’s previous victory over Lake was a 50-32 home win back on December 1, 2010. The Lady Leopards now lead the all-time series 22-17 which includes a 12-6 record at LHS.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the West Branch Warriors on Saturday, December 6. JV will begin at 12:00 PM and Varsity will follow at approximately 1:30 PM.

Lake held Louisville scoreless from the field for the first 13:08 of the contest en rout to a 40-16 victory. With the loss, the Lady Leopards fall to 1-1 on the young season.

Louisville was led by Sydney Daniel who had 6 points, Katie Hollifield who posted 4 points, and Rachel Israel who tallied 3 points.

Daniel’s layup in the paint with 52 seconds remaining in the first half broke the Lady Leopards scoring drought from the field. Previously, the Blue Streaks had leads of 8-0 and 17-1 to start the contest. Lake would outscore Louisville in every quarter.

The Lady Streaks were led by Jessica Davis who scored a game-high 11 points, Kamy Leising who scored 8, and Hannah Davis who added 6.
