Solon 7, Louisville 6

In a back-and-forth game, the Solon Comets came out ahead of the Louisville Leopards 7-6 in the first game of a three-team triple header at Louisville Saturday.

Each team scored four runs a piece in the opening innings. Jordan Monnot’s base-clearing triple brought three of the four runs home in the inning, while Chandler Rice also drove in Shelby Beatty's Sports Softball Shirt 2013Swigert. Swigert would go on to finish with three base hits on the day.

In the second innings, Swigert scored again via Katie Cozy’s two-run homer that made it 6-4 Lady Leopards. It was Cozy’s team-leading 5th home run of the season and the 11th for her career.

After the homer, the Comets retired the next 11 Louisville batters in a row and the Lady Leps would not manage another hit until the last of the seventh. On offense, Solon took the lead via some small ball at 7-6.

Louisville threatened in the seventh inning, but an overthrow took a Solon-hop allowing the Comets to tag out the game-tying run to end the game.

Lake 9, Louisville 2

Coming into the day the Lady Leopards had not lost two consecutive games since April 2010 when they fell to Lake 3-2 and North Canton 3-0. The Blue Streaks downed the Lady Leopards 9-2 in Game 3 of the Triple Header Round Robin Saturday.

The only Louisville runs came in the fourth inning when Jordan Monnot blasted her second home run of the year way over the center field fence. Monnot’s 2-run homer was the team’s 15th of the season.

Chandler Rice tallied 3 of the Leopards 6 hits in the contest as Louisville fell to 19-4 on the season.

Before today, the Lady Leopards went 95 Games in a row without having a losing streak. Louisville also has not dropped two games in the same day since May 2, 2009 when they fell twice in a double header against Dover.

The Blue Streaks now lead the all-time series 29-12 and have won the last two meetings overall.
