Lady Leopards Down South, Now 6-0 – Girls Basketball
Louisville 68, Canton South 56
The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the visiting Canton South Wildcats 68-56 Wednesday Evening at Louisville High School. With the win, Louisville improves to 8-3 overall and remains unbeaten in league play at 6-0.
Sarah Lairson scored a game-high 20 points and Abby Beaver poured in 19 to lead the Lady Leopards. Alexa Oberster also scored 9 and Alexis Beaver added 8 for Louisville as well.
The Wildcats stunned the Leopards by taking a 10-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. Louisville answered back by outscoring Canton South 47-27 over the next two quarters to take a 55-37 lead into the final period. The Lady Leopards erupted to hit 8 of their 9 three-pointers during the middle periods with 3 leaving the hands of Abby Beaver.
The Lady Wildcats would tighten the gap by winning the fourth quarter 19-13. However, the Louisville lead never shrunk below double digits as the Lady Leopards rolled to victory.

Canton South was led by Brooke Noll who scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the final quarter. Alex Faiello and Megan Mitchell also finished with 13 points a piece for the Lady Cats.
With the win, Louisville has now defeated Canton South in each of their previous 5 meetings including the last 7 in the series played at LHS. The Lady Leopards now lead the all-time series 63-24, which includes a 34-10 edge at home. Louisville has now won their last 14 home conference games overall.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Carrollton to take on the Warriors on Saturday, January 7. JV will begin at Noon and Varsity will follow around 1:30 PM.
