The #4 Seed Louisville Leopards Lacrosse Team leveled the top-ranked, defending State Champion Lebanon Warriors 20-13 in Friday’s OHSLA Club Division State Semifinal game at Olentangy Orange High School. The Leopards took command of the contest early when they scored four goals in a span of 2:15 to take a 4-0 advantage. This forced the Warriors to take a timeout and Lebanon would finish the period strong to cut the deficit to 5-4.

Louisville mimicked their first quarter feat by scoring the first four goals of the second quarter to regain control of the contest. When the horn sounded signaling halftime, the Leopards had the Defending State Champions doubled up at 10-5.

The scoring fest continued out of the locker room as the two teams combined to rack up 11 goals in the third period. Louisville netted 7 of those scores and held a stunning 17-9 lead at the end of three.

Lebanon did not go down without a fight as they scored 3 of the first 4 goals to start the fourth quarter in cutting their deficit to 18-12. However, the Warriors would get no closer as Terra and Frank scored two lightning quick goals in a 39 second span to put the Leopards ahead 20-12. Louisville’s defense clamped down and Jarrod Moran made several late saves in goal to preserve the Leopard victory.

The 20 goals scored by Louisville is a season-high and this is the second straight tournament game that they have set their season-high mark. Louis Keller and Mark Soehnlen scored a pair of goals each for Louisville. Keller also recorded 3 assists and Holland added a team-high 4.

In the second semifinal game, #3 seed Bellbrook (7-8) defeated #2 seed Miami Valley (14-4) in a thrilling 13-12 contest to advance to their second straight State Championship. Bellbrook fell to Lebanon 17-14 in the OHSLA Club Division State Title last season.
