Louisville 26, Marlington 6
Ryan Lautner caught 2 of the Leopards 5 interceptions and took one to the house to help lead the JV Leopards over the Marlington Dukes 26-6 Saturday morning.
Walter Schrock started the scoring for the Leopards with a direct snap 45 yard touchdown run and also broke another big run on the next drive. That second offensive drive by Louisville also featured an 18 yard pass completion from Quarterback Pavin Parks to Wide Receiver AJ Minster on a 4th-and-7. After that the first quarter ended, but on the very next play Parks found Kyle Bast in the right side of the endzone for a score. Similarly, Parks connected with Connor Zwick on the same side of the endzone for the two point conversion a play later. The conversion made it 14-0 Louisville.
The Dukes muffed the ensuing kickoff and Jake Jackson fell on the ball for Louisville at the Marlington 36. After going backwards, Quarterback Joe Crank connected for a first down pass to Lautner on a 3rd-and-19. Again, Louisville went in reverse after a Marlington sack. But Crank topped the previous feat with a 4th-and-17 first down completion into the sure hands of Bryce Mathie to the Leopards 1. Zwick ran in the score two plays later to make it 20-0 Louisville.
Kyle Woost and AJ Minster each ended Marlington drives with interceptions before the half. In the second half Lautner recorded two picks including one he returned 19 yards for a score just 50 seconds into the third quarter. Zach Shea also had 2 sacks and 2 other tackles for a loss in the game for hte Leps
Marlington’s only score was set up by Freshman Garrett Floyd’s 59 yard kick return to the Louisville 28. Five plays later, Quarterback Marcus Devies hit Wide Receiver Dylan Simmons for a 10 yard score making it 26-6.
The Dukes threatened one last time near the end of the game, but Leopard defensive back Jeff Diezman picked off a pass at the Louisville 24. The Leopards ran out the clock to move to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the NBC.
