Girls Tennis Wins 60th Straight NBC Match, Alone in 1st

The Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis team shutout the visiting Salem Quakers 5-0 Tuesday Evening at Louisville Leopards Blue Women's Shirt Fall 2016 - Beatty's SportsLouisville High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to an even 4-4 overall and remains alone in first at a perfect 3-0 in NBC competition.

The Lady Leopards did not lose a single set in any of their five match-ups. In fact, both Louisville Doubles teams won by a perfect tally of 6-0, 6-0. They included the #1 Doubles Team of Tory Esposito & Marisa Tupy and the #2 Doubles team of Eryn Perez & Maddie Miller.

All three singles players proved dominate as well for the Leopards. Winners included Kayla Pukys 6-2, 6-3 in #1 Singles, Alexis Pochubay 6-1, 6-0 in #2 Singles, and Alexis Wendt 6-2, 6-2 in #3 Singles.

Louisville has never lost to Salem in improving to 17-0 all-time against the Quakers. The victory is also the Lady Leopards 60th in a row against NBC foes. This is the longest known conference winning streak of any team in any sport in the NBC since its inception in 1988. This streak eclipses Lady Leopards Softball’s 58-game winning streak from 2011 to 2015.

Louisville 5, West Branch 0

The Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis team blanked the only other remaining in-league undefeated team JennCanAdon the road at West Branch Thursday. The Lady Leopards won the match 5-0 to improve to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the NBC.

The Leopards won every match in straight sets and were led by Kayla Pukys who won a perfect 6-0, 6-0 in #1 Singles. Alexis Pochubay also won in #2 Singles 6-2, 6-2 and Alexis Wendt took #3 Singles 6-2, 6-3.

Both Louisville Doubles Teams won their first set a perfect 6-0. The #1 Team of Eryn Perez and Marisa Tupy won their match 6-0, 6-2. The #2 Team of Maddie Miller and Kennedy Keister were also victorious by the count of 6-0, 6-1.

The Lady Leopards have now defeated the Lady Warriors in 15 consecutive meetings. Louisville now leads the all-time series 49-4.

West Branch falls to 7-2 overall and 1-1 in the NBC with the loss.

Louisville 4, Canton South 1

The Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis team downed the visiting Canton South Wildcats 4-1 in their NBC
Leopard Nation $5 ChallengeOpener last Tuesday, August 30. Louisville improved to 2-3 overall at the time.

The Leopards won all three singles matches during the victory. Kayla Pukys led Louisville by winning a perfect 6-0, 6-0 in #1 Singles. Alexis Pochubay also won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in #2 Singles and Alexis Wendt also won #3 Singles in two sets 6-3, 6-1.

The #2 Leopards Doubles Team of Kennedy Keister and Madison Miller also got the “W” in a competitive 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 match.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Green to take on the Bulldogs on Wednesday, September 7 at 4:15 PM.
