Girls Tennis Sweeps Lake in OTCA Tournament Opener

The Louisville Leopards Girls Tennis team shutout the visiting Lake Blue Streaks 5-0 in the opening round of the Ohio Tennis Coaches’ Association Tournament. With the victory, Louisville improves to 1-1 on the young season.
The Leopards won 4 of their 5 matches in straight sets. Kayla Pukys set the tone with a dominate 6-0, 6-1 victory in #1 Singles. Alexis Wendt also proved dominant in #3 Singles by the count of 6-2, 6-1. Tory Esposito & Marisa Tupy took #1 Doubles 6-3, 6-1 and the combination of Madison Miller & Kennedy Keister defeated the opposition 6-2, 6-4 in #2 Doubles.

The only match that went to a third set came in #2 Singles. Alexis Pochubay won the first set a perfect 6-0, but surrendered the second set 2-6. She would flip that defeat in the third and final set with a 6-2 win to complete the team sweep.
Louisville has now downed Lake in 7 straight matches. The Leopards lead the all-time series 26-4.
With the win, Louisville advances to the second round of the OTCA Tournament where they will host the Saint Joseph Academy Jaguars. Saint Joseph Academy was victorious over Kenston 4-1 in their first round matchup Monday as well. Date and Time for the the Leopards and Jaguars second round matchup has not been announced yet.
