Girls Soccer Rises Above .500 After 2-0 Shutout of Marlington

The Louisville Lady Leopards produced two goals in the final 30:18 to down the visiting Marlington Dukes 2-0 Wednesday at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville is now 5-4-2 overall and 4-1 against the NBC.

Rachel Baughman scored both goals to lead the Lady Leopards with both assists coming from her sister Beatty's Sports Yellow Long Sleeved ShirtHannah Baughman. Rachel Baughman broke free and split the ball between two Duke defenders for the first goal. Then with 12:48 left in the game, Hannah Baughman’s corner kick found the head of her sister to put Louisville ahead 2-0.

Marlington was able to penetrate several times in the first half, but came up empty. In the second half, Louisville’s defense put the clamp down across the board and Ali Bourne earned the shutout in goal.

The victory is the Lady Leopards first at home against the Lady Dukes all-time as they now hold a 1-4-1 record in the series when played in the Ville. Louisville trails the all-time series overall 3-8-1, but has won the last three meetings overall.
