Girls Soccer Doubles Up Alumni 4-2
Louisville 4, Alumni 2
The Louisville Leopards Girls Soccer team doubled up the Louisville Alumni Team 4-2 on a wet and rainy Saturday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the win, Louisville improves to 2-0 in the preseason.
It did not take long for either team to find the net. In the first minute of the contest Lindsey Bradley booted a free kick over top two Alumni defenders. Maddie Berkebile charged in and kicked the ball off the crossbar. Then, Berkebile got her own rebound and netted it home for the first score of the contest.
The Alumni would answer right back within the next minute. (Soccer) Class of 2011 Senior Mackenzie Storlie shot from deep range and stunningly the ball found its target to knot the game at 1-1.
The Leopards would add three more goals before halftime. Hannah Baughman crossed a pass to Aubry Fankhauser who one-timed it home for the go-ahead score. Excellent passing by Heather Guiley, Kayla Gibson, and Brianna Horton setup the play.
Later on, Berkebile crossed over her dribble, freeing up space for a shot on goal. Baughman was there for the rebound and she tapped it in to make it 3-1.
Louisville’s final score of the game came when Horton shot the ball into the left side of the goal. Bradley provided the assist on the play as Horton broke free for the narrow-angled shot from the right side of the penalty box.
Midway through the second half the heavens let loose and rain began to pour into Louisville Leopards Stadium. Despite the monsoon, (Soccer) Class of 2013 Sarah Jaroszyk scored a goal for the Alumni on the final play of the contest.
