Girls Basketball Leaps Past Lions 56-37

Louisville 56, Minerva 37

Louisville began the fourth quarter on an 11-0 run turning a competitive struggle into a convincing 56-37 victory over host Minerva. With the win, the Lady Leopards are now 4-3 overall and 3-1 against the NBC.

Four different Louisville players reached double figures on the afternoon. The scrappy Grace Jackson Beatty's Sports I love Footballset the tone early as she scored 7 of her 12 points in the first quarter. Abby Beaver matched Jackson’s performance with 7 of her team-high 12 points in the next period. Beaver capped off the second quarter with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to counter an first quarter buzzer-beating made by the Lions Josie Chaddock.

Chaddock finished with a game-high 15 points for Minerva (4-3, 2-2). Amanda Burchett also scored 8 and Lauren Rhome added 6 for the Lions.

Sabryna Benzel and Sarah Lairson each scored 6 points in the final quarter to help the Leopards put the nail in the coffin. Lairson would finish with 11 and Benzel ended the afternoon with 10.

With the victory, Louisville has now won 6 out of the last 7 games against Minerva which includes winning 4 out of the last 5 at MHS. The Lady Leopards now lead the all-time series 38-19 and hold a 17-11 advantage in games at Minerva.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next take on the Jackson Polar Bears on Monday, December 29 at the Jackson Holiday Classic. Varsity will play at 6:00 PM in the Main Gym and JV will follow at 7:30 PM in the Auxiliary Gym.
