Girls Basketball Falls to West Branch in NBC Opener

The Louisville Leopards fell to the visiting West Branch Warriors in the NBC Opener Saturday Afternoon Beatty's Sports I love Footballat LHS. With the loss, Louisville falls to 1-2 overall on the season.

The Lady Leopards were led by Sarah Lairson who dropped in a team-high 17 points. Abby Beaver also had 8 points & 3 assists and Grace Jackson added 6 points, 5 rebounds, & 4 steals.

After building a 30-23 halftime advantage, West Branch began the second half on an 11-0 run to pull away for good. The Lady Warriors were led by Melinda Trimmer who finished with a game-high 26 points and 5 assists. Lea Bock also had 12 points & 8 rebounds, Kaylee Manning scored 11 points, and Erica Johnson grabbed 8 boards.

West Branch has now beaten Louisville in four consecutive meetings. The Lady Warriors now lead the all-time series 35-19 which includes a 15-13 advantage at LHS. This is also the first time West Branch has won back-to-back games at Louisville since their state championship season of 2004.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Salem Quakers on Saturday, December 13. JV will begin at 12:00 PM and Varsity will follow at 1:30 PM.

The Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Leopards in all four quarters in earning a 51-17 road victory. With the loss, Louisville’s JV squad falls to 1-2 on the season while West Branch improves to 2-1.

Katie Hollifield scored a team-high 5 points and Sydney Daniel & Heather Guiley each added 4 to lead the Lady Leopards.

West Branch was led by Vernice Ormiston who scored a game-high 15 points. Emma Griffith and Miriah Herbert also scored 7 points each for the Warriors.
