Girls Basketball Erases 24-Point Deficit in Win At West Branch

The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Basketball team rallied back from a 24-point deficit to down the host West Branch Warriors 55-52 Saturday at WBHS. With the victory, Louisville is now 3-1 overall and 2-0 in NBC play.
Emily Hollifield and Sarah Lairson both scored a team-high 12 points to lead the Lady Leopards. Grace Jackson also added 9.
West Branch went ahead 12-10 after the first quarter before using a 26-6 second quarter to go ahead 38-16 at the half. Louisville would eclipse their entire first half score just five minutes into the second half. The Leopards came flying out of the gate on an 18-1 run to pull within 39-34. Louisville would finish with 27 points in the third period and knot the game at 43-43 with one quarter left to play.
The Leopards would take the game by edging the Warriors 12-9 in the fourth quarter. They hit 6 of 8 free throws in the final frame to ice the contest.
West Branch (1-3, 0-2) was led by Brenna Rito who finished with a game-high 14 points. Kaylee Manning and Emma Rankin also poured in 11 points each for the Warriors.
The victory is the Leopards first over the Warriors since they beat them 50-38 at home on December 8, 2012 snapping a string of 5 straight wins in the series for the green and white. This is also Louisville’s first win at West Branch since they defeated the Warriors 51-39 back on January 23, 2010 at WBHS. West Branch still leads the all-time series 36-20 overall with a 21-7 in Beloit.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Massillon to take on the Tigers on Thursday, December 10. JV will tip at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
