Girls Basketball Drops Opener Vs. GlenOak
GlenOak 51, Louisville 28
The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball team dropped their opener to the visiting GlenOak Golden Eagles 51-28 Saturday Afternoon at LHS.
Sabryna Benzel led Louisville with a team-high 8 points. Alexa Oberster also scored 7 and Grace Jackson dropped in 5 for the Lady Leopards.
Led by Louisville’s great defensive play, the Leopards found themselves within 20-18 of the Golden Eagles at halftime. Emily Hollifield had several blocks to keep GlenOak at bay in the opening 16 minutes.
However, the second half was a different story. The Golden Eagles soared out of the locker room on a 10-0 run to take a 30-18 lead. GlenOak would outscored Louisville 20-6 in the third and also won the fourth quarter 11-4 to cruise to victory. The Eagles would scored double digits in all four quarters of the game.
GlenOak was led by Daishona Polk who hit 3 of the Golden Eagles 6 three-pointers and scored a game-high 17 points. Payton Brown also added 10 and Davina Shelton scored 9 for last year’s DI North Canton District Runner-Ups.
GlenOak has now defeated Louisville in three straight meetings. This was the 50th meeting between the two squads with GlenOak now leading the all-time series 27-23, which includes a 13-12 mark at LHS.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Lake to take on the Blue Streaks on Tuesday, November 24. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
