Girls Basketball Defeats Dukes, Now 5-2 in NBC

The Louisville Lady Leopards defeated the visiting Marlington Dukes 48-32 Wednesday Evening at LHS. With the victory, Louisville is now 7-6 overall and 5-2 at the midway point of conference play.

Emily Hollifield led the Lady Leopards with a game-high 15 points and 6 rebounds. Abby Beaver also scored 10 and Alexa Oberster added 9.

Louisville built a 44-21 advantage at the end of the third quarter and then cruised to victory in the fourth. Beatty's Sports Leopard Winter Hat 1 copyThe Lady Leopards out-rebounded the Dukes 37-29 for the contest led by Sabryna Benzel and Sarah Lairson who each pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds. Lairson also had 4 assists and 3 steals, both of which were game-highs.

Marlington was led by Alyssa Powers who scored a game-high 12 points and brought down 6 boards. Sheridan Rummell also scored 6 and Zoey Peck tacked on 5 for the Dukes.

Louisville has now defeated Marlington in 33 of their last 35 meetings including 17 out of the last 18 at LHS. The Lady Leopards now lead the all-time series 61-17 with a 29-10 mark at home.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to West Branch to take on the Warriors on Saturday, January 17. JV will begin at 12:00 PM and Varsity will follow at 1:30 PM.

The Lady Leopards downed the visiting Dukes 35-26 in JV action Wednesday. The victory by Louisville snaps an 8-game losing streak and pulls the Leps to 3-10 overall and 2-5 against NBC foes.

Katie Hollifield scored 9 of her game-high 10 points in the second half to lead Louisville. Hailey Miller also dumped in 7 and Gabby Spehar & Danielle Walter each added 5.

Marlington was led by Brianna Hoopes who scored 7, Brooke Brodzinski who had 6, and Nicole Cook who finished with 4.
