Girl Lacrosse’s Rally Falls Short Against GlenOak 11-10
GlenOak 11, Louisville 10
The Louisville Leopards Girls Lacrosse Team’s furious second half rally came up just short as they were edged by the visiting GlenOak Golden Eagles 11-10 on a wet & rainy night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the loss, Louisville drops to 2-1 on the season.
Liz Pugh scored a Hat Trick worth of goals to lead the Lady Leopards. Emily Shea also scored 2 goals & had a team-high 3 assists and Alexa Oberster scored twice & tallied 2 assists for Louisville.
The Leopards Emily Hollifield scored the first goal of the game almost seven minutes into the contest. The Golden Eagles would answer back with eight straight goals to pull ahead 8-1 with 2:52 left in the first half.
Katie Hollifield scored her first of two goals to break the Louisville drought 28 seconds later. Louisville would cut the lead to 8-3 at the break and get to within 8-4 when Pugh scored off a pass from Mandy Wesely 37 seconds into the second half.
GlenOak would rip off 3 of the next 4 scores to take a commanding 11-5 lead with 14:04 remaining in the contest. The Leopards would answer 33 seconds later off the stick of Oberster, but a period of 9:02 followed where neither team scored.
Amazingly, Louisville stormed back with four goals in a span of just 1:37 to trim the GlenOak lead to a single score. Oberster won 3 straight draws to spark the Lady Leopards run. However, the Golden Eagles would hold LHS off the board the rest of the way to claim the victory.
All 11 of GlenOak’s goals were unassisted. Sarah Hattas led the Eagles with a game-high 4 goals. Sydney Dickerson & Morgan Schuerch each recorded Hat Tricks and Lisa Dickerson also got on the board with a score.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Poland Seminary to take on the Bulldogs on Saturday, April 9 .
