Gentry Closes Season with State Runner-Up Finish, Girls Relay 13th
Chad Gentry placed second in the 400 Meter Dash of the State Finals Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the Campus of the Ohio State University in Columbus. Gentry crossed the finish line with a season-best time of 48.32, which eclipsed his preliminary run time of 48.86 on Friday. Cleveland John F. Kennedy’s Antwon Smith was the only runner that stood in the way of Gentry winning the individual state title. Smith finished with a time of 47.44 in the finals after qualifying with a time of 48.64.
The girls track squad’s 4×800 relay team of Mackenzie Rankin, Rachel Baughman, Haley Davis, and Sarah Davis placed 13th in the state with a time of 9:32.12.
