Freshman Football Hammers Smithies 46-7

The Louisville Leopards Freshman Football team dismantled the visiting Smithville Smithies 46-7 
Thursday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville is now 2-1 on the season.
The multi-faceted Max Hartline scored on a 55 yard punt return, ran in an 18 yard touchdown, and also completed a 28 yard touchdown pass to Bryce Zuppe to lead the Leopards. Zuppe also caught a 30 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Jared Mathie early on in the second quarter.
Mathie’s first touchdown throw came in the opening quarter on a 34 yard strike to a breaking Cameron Lingle. On Defense & Special Teams, Lingle intercepted a pass and recovered a kickoff.
The Leopards only other takeaway came when Maverick Pugh recovered a fumble forced by Zuppe. Other Louisville Defensive highlights included Marc Joseph launching in for a solo sack and the trio of Matt Davis, Spencer Hall, and Jacob Urick storming in to make Quarterback sandwich on a separate play.
The Leopards built a 27-0 lead with 7:16 left in the second quarter and also scored the final 19 points of the contest to roll to victory. Logan Banta added touchdown runs of 4 and 23 to ice the game for Louisville.
The Smithies only touchdown came on a 4th-and-8 play with 2:34 remaining in the second quarter. Adam Baltic broke free on a 33 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Dylan Ward.
