1948 Louisville Leopards Football

Louisville Leopards Football 1948

  • Outright Tri-County League Champions (4th Title)
  • Head Coach: James Morgan (1st Year)
  • Overall: 8-0-1
  • Tri-County: 6-0-0
  • Home 4-0-1, Away 4-0-0
  • The opener against East Canton was played at Massillon’s Tiger Stadium as part of the “Stark County Football Preview”. For whatever reason this game is not counted in the programs win-loss total, however the 1947 game against Canton Township that was also played as part of this preview does count in the programs total wins/losses.
  • This is the first year that the Louisville football program was known as the “Louisville Leopards” as the LHS Mirror yearbook staff took a vote to change the team nickname during the 1947-48 school year. Thus the preview at East Canton is the first time the Louisville Leopards Football team played a game, while the first regular season game came at Uhrichsville and is officially counted as “The Leopards” first game in history.
