Louisville 48, Minerva 0

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Football Team shutout the host Minerva Lions 48-0 at Dr. Robert H. Hines Stadium Beatty's Football Shirt 2015Friday. With the victory, Louisville is now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the NBC.

Quarterback Jake Adams was 13 of 19 passing for 214 yards and threw 4 touchdown to lead the Leopards. Adams connected with a different receiver for each score hooking up with Conner Bast for 32 yards, Tyler Adams for 36 yards, Alec Jones for 21 yards, and Brock Haren for 7 yards.

Bast was the game’s top receiver with 3 catches for 65 yards. Tyler Adams also had 2 grabs for 47 yards, Haren finished with 3 receptions for 39 yards, and Jones caught 2 passes for 35 yards.

The Louisville Running Game racked up 205 yards on 24 carries. Runningback Rahzul Young led the way with 12 carries for 120 yards and scored on a 15 yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Frankie Falcone also scored on a 2 yard touchdown run in the second quarter and Sean McKinney broke free for a 40 yard fourth quarter touchdown run.

The Leopards defense suffocated the Lions all night long. Even with most of their yardage coming late in the second half, Minerva was held to just 107 yards rushing on 34 attempts and no pass completions. Coy Mullins led the Lions with 57 yards on the ground on 15 carries.

Louisville went ahead 16-0 in the opening quarter and built a 35-0 halftime lead. The Leopards would score a touchdown in each of the final quarters as well. Just like their glow in the dark band show, it was lights out for Minerva (0-5, 0-2).

Louisville also recovered two fumbles for the only takeaways of the contest. Kyle Ashcraft stripped the Minerva ball carrier and Dalton Deckerd fell on it at the Lions 32 to setup the Leopards first score. Cade Stertzbach also forced a fumble in the fourth quarter and Cody Allgood covered it up to end the Lions deepest drive of the night on the Minerva 20.

With the victory, the Leopards have now defeated the Lions in three straight tries and 14 out of the last 15 meetings overall. Louisville now leads the all-time series 63-20-5, which includes a 33-9-3 mark at Minerva.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Marlington Dukes on Friday, October 2 at 7:00 PM.
