Football to Compete in DIII, Region 9, Saturday Night Playoffs

Louisville Leopards Football 2015 Vs. Canfield

The Louisville Leopards will compete in Division III again this season, but have been moved to Region Beatty's Sports Hat Louisville Leopards L Letter9. This region contains the same exact teams as Region 7 did a season ago.

The reason for the change in number is because Division I went back to 4 regions. The addition of those two regions changed Regions 7-10 to Regions 9-12 in terms of Division III.

In addition, the OHSAA announced in a press release Wednesday that Division I playoff games will be moved to Friday Nights for the first time since 1980. The release gives the reasoning for the change:

“For several years, attendance has decreased at Division I games in November, primarily due to some Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videofans opting for college games, which include more night games. In addition, fewer facilities are available on Saturdays due to other school functions or staff not being available.”

As a result, Division I, II, IV, and VI games will be played on Fridays at 7:30 PM and Division III, V, and VII will be played on Saturdays at 7:00 PM. With the Leopards being in Division III once again, Louisville could see some Saturday Night Football in the near future!
