Football Ties Akron Hoban in Scoreless Scimmage

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Football team knotted the visiting Akron Archbishop Hoban Knights 0-0 Beatty's Football Shirt 2015in a one half scrimmage Thursday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. The scrimmage was contested in game-like conditions for one half of play.

Hoban reached the Louisville 30 yard line on the opening drive of the game before a penalty set them back. That was the closest the Knights would get as the Leopards defense held the Knight scoreless for the duration of the scrimmage.

Louisville’s best scoring opportunity came after Stephen Kerzan recovered a Hoban fumble on the Knights 24. Leopards Quarterback Jake Adams would complete an 11 yard pass to Alec Jones on 4th-and-6 to extend the drive to the Hoban 9. The Knights defense held the Leopards to negative 8 yards on the next three plays to halt the drive.

Louisville had a chance to score on their second drive of the contest as well. Runningback Rahzul Young set the tone early by running to the right side for 24 yards on the first play of the drive. Adams later converted a 4th-and-8 with a 9 yard pass to Conner Bast to the Knights 39. Four plays, later Hoban’s Jashawn Robinson intercepted a 4th-and-5 pass to keep the game scoreless.

Individually for the Leopards: Adams was 6 of 11 for 34 yards through the air with his favorite target being Tyler Adams who caught 3 passes for 11 yards. Young led the rushing game with 6 carries for 23 yards. On defense, Tanner Brahler, Daichi Castles, and Jimmy Leonard were all in on sacks for Louisville. Reis Rankin also broke up a fourth down pass.

Individually for the Knights: Quarterback Danny Clark was 7 of 10 for 57 yards with his most frequent target being Nate Bauer who made 3 receptions for 34 yards. Todd Sibley led all rushers with 6 carries for 75 yards on the ground. William Collier also laid down the lumber on defense to force an incompletion ending the Leopards final possession.

Freshman: Archbishop Hoban 21, Louisville 6

The Louisville Leopards Freshman Football team fell to the visiting Knights 21-6 in a one half scrimmage. Quarterback Jared Mathie found Receiver Max Hartline on a 20 yard touchdown pass for the Leopards only score.
