Louisville scored the first 17 points and built a 24-1 lead before Canton South made a shot from the field.  The Lady Leps never looked back as they clobbered the Lady Wildcats 69-40 Wednesday Night at Charles “Red” Ash Gymnasium in Canton Township.  Brianna Libertore led all 11 Louisville scorers with 14 points, Chandler Rice scored 10, and Molly Brown also added 9.

The Lady Leps stormed out of the gate red hot hitting 13 of 20 shots from the field in the opening quarter.  Rice scored 8 of her 10 points in the first 70 seconds of the contest hitting on back-to-back three-pointers and then knocking down a short jumper on the next possession.  Brown also hit from long range and scored 7 points in the period and Jordan Monnot added the fourth Louisville triple of the quarter a little later.

The Lady Leopards defense held Canton South off the board until Katie Uminski made the front end of a pair of free throws with 4:33 left in the 1st quarter.  The Wildcats first field goal did not come until six minutes into the game when Hunter Harris hit from beyond the arch to make it 24-4.

Libertore would also add 6 points to the Leopards total in a quarter that featured 8 different Lady Leopards scoring.  Much of the scoring was set up by point guard Mackenzie Storlie who had at least 7 assists for the game.  Louisville led 32-8 as the buzzer rang to cap off what may have been the most offensively productive quarter in team history.

The Lady Leps outscored the Wildcats in the next two periods as the bench started to clear for Louisville.  Catelyn Radalia scored 6 of her 8 points in the second half for Louisville.  South did outscore Louisville 14-13 in the final period and were led by Joelle Martin’s 14 points for the game.

The outcome was never in doubt as Louisville was just one step ahead of Canton South in every phase of the game.  The Leps dominated the boards 35-17 and out-shot the Wildcats 56% to 26% from the field.  Canton South also did not help their cause from the outside as they hit just 2 of 12 three-pointers, while the Leopards sunk 5 of 8.

For the Leopards, it is their fifth straight NBC win as they improve to 6-1 in the conference and 8-3 overall.  The Wildcats dip to 2-10 overall and 1-6 in the conference.  The two squads will rematch in Louisville on February 8.

Hollyann Mullett led Louisville with 10 points as the Lady Leopards JV squad pulled ahead of the Wildcats in earning a 43-34 victory.  Louisville led 14-8 at the half, but a run by South gave the Lady Cats the lead in in the third period.  The two squads fought hard in a very physical contest that featured a combined 39 fouls.  In the end Louisville would win the game at the line making 18 of 35 free throws compared to South’s 5 for 12 performance from the charity stride.  Nora Hmeidan and Rachel Zeller also contributed 6 points each for the Lady Leps who are now a perfect 7-0 in the NBC and 8-3 overall.
