DI Canton District Baseball Tournament Bracket & Schedule 2016
The Louisville Leopards drew the #10 Seed at the DI Canton District Baseball Tournament Draw 
Sunday. They will host the #11 Seed Canton McKinley Bulldogs on Wednesday, May 11 at 4:30 PM in the DI Canton Sectional Semifinals.
The Leopards defeated the Bulldogs 14-2 in a 7 inning scrimmage back on March 23. Their last regular season meeting came at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium on April 24, 2015. Louisville won the game 7-4 with current starter Paul Howard earning the victory on the mound for the Leopards.
McKinley last ventured to Louisville on May 21, 2002. The Leopards also won that matchup 12-10. Louisville has won the last 7 in the series overall with the Bulldogs last victory over the Leopards coming at home in an 8-3 win back on April 20, 1996. Our records indicate that Canton McKinley has not won at Louisville since winning 8-2 back on May 6, 1991.
The Leopards and Bulldogs have met in the postseason 4 times since 1972 with Canton McKinley holding a 3-1 edge in tournament games. Louisville won the last meeting 10-5 in a District Semifinal game played at North Canton on May 16, 1988. The Leopards would go on to defeat North Canton 4-2 the next day to win their first ever District Championship.
If Louisville wins the opening round game, they will travel to face the top seeded Jackson Polar Bears in 
the DI Canton Sectional Finals on Thursday, May 12 at 4:30 PM. The same scenario ended the Leopards last two tournament runs with the Polar Bears winning 6-3 in 2015 and 3-2 in 2016. The two will meet in a preview of that potential matchup tomorrow (Monday, May 2) at Jackson starting at 7:00 PM. The Polar Bears have defeated the Leopards the last 7 times the two teams have met with 5 of those match-ups being played at Jackson.
Louisville is 43-44 in the State Tournament since 1972 and 2-2 since joining Division I in 2014. The Leopards have won their last 8 tournament games played at the Field of Dreams and are 14-8 in the tournament at home since 1972.
