Louisville Leopards Basketball Navy Blue Shirt - Beatty's Sports 2017The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team downed the visiting Canton South Wildcats 69-52 Tuesday Night at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 10-3 on the year and now stands alone in first place in the NBC at 7-1. 

Brandon Wahl scored double digits in each half en rout to posting a game-high 20 points to lead the Leopards. Spencer Hall also dropped in 8 and Derek Zeller tacked on 7 to round out Louisville’s leading scorers.

The Leopards led 16-10 at the end of one and built their advantage to 37-23 at the break. They also outscored the Wildcats 13-9 in the third quarter to take a comfortable 50-32 lead into the final period. Canton South would edge Louisville 20-19 in the fourth quarter, but the Leopards still rolled to the convincing victory.

Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdThe Wildcats (3-9, 1-7) were led by Riley James who surpassed double figures with 11. Chris Fontes also scored 8 and both Sean Blackmon and Jared Perez each added 7.

With the win, Louisville has now defeated Canton South in five consecutive meetings. This was the 147th meeting on the hardwood between the two programs with the Wildcats still owning a commanding 95-52 lead in the series. However, the Leopards finish 35-23 against Canton South in NBC matchups. In the 86 year history of the series, Louisville has only held a 5-game winning streak against the Wildcats 4 times. Two of those winning streaks have been under the direction of current Head Coach Tom Siegfried.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Alliance to take on the Aviators on Friday, January 26. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
