Lady Leopards Cage Cardinals in Opener – Girls Lacrosse
Louisville 7, Canfield 5
The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team earned a 7-5 victory over the visiting Canfield Cardinals in the season opener Wednesday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium.
Alexa Oberster led the Leopards by recording a Hat Trick, fielding a team-high 5 ground balls, and forcing a team-high 4 turnovers on defense. Other goal scorers for Louisville included Katie Hollifield, Kloe Mercorelli, Megan Vesely, and Mandy Wesely.
In goal, Celia Keefe finished with 12 saves to pick up the victory. Wesely also tallied 4 ground balls caused 3 turnovers on defense for the Lady Leopards.
With the victory, Louisville is now 3-0 against Canfield all-time with a 2-0 record against the Cardinals at home. The Leopards won last year’s match-up at Louisville Leopards Stadium 12-6 and also won 12-3 at Canfield. Louisville Girls Lacrosse is now 2-0 in season openers since the program began last year.

The Louisville Leopards Girls JV Lacrosse Team opened up the new year with a 6-4 win over visiting Canfield.
Marissa Vick led the Lady Leopards with a pair of goals and fielded a team-high 4 ground balls. Also finding the net for Louisville were Maddie Bates, Katie Monter, Lauren Simon, and Megan Vesely who also scored in the Varsity match.
Goalie Lia Meckel finished with 4 saves for the Leopards. Bates, Tori Sharow, and Simon all fielded 3 ground balls each as well for Louisville.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Akron to take on the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish on Thursday, March 23.
