Boys Tennis Postseason Recap
Leopards Boys Tennis Singles Player Jake Pukys capped off his career by qualifying for Districts for the fourth straight season. Including both the Boys and Girls programs, he is the first Louisville Tennis player to accomplish the feat.
Pukys finished 4-2 at Harvard Park on May 12 and 14 to place 3rd in the DI Canton Sectional Tournament. He would fall to Brecksville’s Aaron Yeh 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the District Tournament the next week.
Pukys finishes his high school career with an overall record of 86-19 in Singles Play. This includes a 70-8 mark in #1 Singles for the regular season and a 16-11 mark in tournament play, Both marks are school records. Pukys surpassed Nicole Catalano’s (1985-88) 64 career regular season wins for the overall program lead and also broke the Boys record set by Mark Mason (1984-1987) which was previously 52 regular season victories.
Other Sectional Tournament highlights included the Doubles Team of Alex Hall and Kyle Robinson advancing to the Quarterfinals before falling to Jackson’s Pierkarski and Sloan. In terms of regular season records, Hall finishes second all-time on the Boys list for dual match victories.
