Boys Tennis Opens NBC Play With Win at Marlington

The Louisville Leopards Boys Tennis Team opened up their league schedule with a 4-1 road victory over the Dukes of Marlington Tuesday. With the victory, Louisville improves to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in NBC play.
Jake Pukys was nearly perfect winning 6-0, 6-1 in #1 Singles to lead the Leopards. The #2 Doubles Team of Asa Herron & Zach Eddins also won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
Two close match-ups decided the match in favor of Louisville. It took three sets, but Kyle Shepherd emerged victorious in #3 Singles to the tune of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. The #1 Doubles Team of Alex Hall & Kyle Shepherd won their first set 7-5, but fell in a tie-breaker 6-7 (2-7) in the second set. They would prevail in the third set 6-3 to capture the point and the Leopard victory.
Stephen Kinney earned the only Dukes point by winning #2 Singles 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.
With the victory, Louisville has now defeated Marlington in 10 consecutive meetings. The Leopards lead the all-time series 64-5 overall.
