Boys Soccer Snaps Spell Against West Branch 3-0

The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team shutout the visiting West Branch Warriors 3-0 at Louisville Louisville Leopards Grey Bag - Beatty's Sports - Fall 2016Leopards Stadium Tuesday Night. With the victory, Louisville improves to 5-2-2 overall and remains in first place atop the NBC at 3-0-1.

Bailey Adams recorded his third multi-goal game of the season by scoring in each half to lead the Leopards. Hunter Foley also netted a goal and added an assist in the second half for Louisville.

After 32 minutes of hard fought battle with the Warriors, the Leopards caught a big break when West Branch was called for a hand ball in the box at the 7:58 mark. Adams banged through the penalty kick and Louisville would take the 1-0 cushion into the half.

The net remained unscathed from the field deep into the second half. However, the Leopards would JennCanAdbreak the game wide open with a pair of goals in a span of 3:24. Foley intercepted a Warriors pass in the West Branch backfield and sent it to the sprinting Adams down the center of the field. Adams beat the charging goalie for his team leading 7th goal of the season.

Louisville’s final goal came after Adams booted a free kick into the penalty box. The boot deflected off the head of the Leopards Derek Zeller toward the edge of the box. Teammate Bradley Terra redirected it to his left and Foley banged it home for the score to make it 3-0 with 12:42 left to play.

The Leopards cruised from there and Jarrett Zwick secured his third shutout of the season in goal. Louisville doubled up West Branch in shots 22-11 and led in corner kicks 3-2.

The win is the Leopards first over the Warriors since they blanked them on the road 2-0 back on
Order Leopard Nation Highlight VideoOctober 2, 2012.  That was the only other time Louisville had shutout West Branch previously. This is also the first time the Leopards have defeated the Warriors at home since they won 4-1 back on October 9, 2010.

Louisville still trails the all-time series against West Branch 4-10-3. However, the Leopards are 3-4-1 against the Warriors in the home portion of the series.
