Boys Soccer Rallies to Tame Tigers
Louisville 2, Massillon 1
The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer team used a second half rally to edge the visiting Massillon Tigers 2-1 Thursday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 2-6-1 on the year.
Derek Zeller scored twice in the second half to put the Leopards ahead. On both occasions, Trevor Burk provided the assist. Burk launched a pass from the right sideline and Zeller booted it into the right side of the net to tie the game at 1-1 with 34:34 left in the second half.
Later on, Travis Pape dribbled the ball down the left side of the field and into the box. He then crossed a pass to the right to Burk, who centered the ball. Zeller beat both Tigers defenders and teed-off into the right corner of the net to give the Leopards a 2-1 advantage with 8:23 left to go.
Great Defensive Plays down the stretch by Logan Riley and Goalie Jarrett Zwick preserved the victory. Louisville has now won 12 of their last 13 meetings against Massillon and leads the all-time series 13-1-2. That record includes a 7-1-1 home record against the Tigers.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Lake to take on the Blue Streaks on Saturday, September 19 at 1:00 PM.
