Boys Soccer Ends Season at Marlington, Finish 10-8

Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer 2012 at Marlington

Marlington 5, Louisville 0

The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer team concluded the 2012 season with a 5-0 loss to the Marlington Dukes in the District Semifinals at Marlington Soccer Stadium Wednesday evening.  The Leps finish the season 10-8.

The Leopards and Dukes remained scoreless until Austin Wade scored for Marlington 15 minutes into the contest to give the Dukes a 1-nil advantage.  Marlington nearly had a second goal just Beatty's Sports Grey Louisville Athletics T-Shirtbefore the half when Jacob Sutton broke free on a fast break.  The ball deflected off the post and his momentum carried him into the net.  As the announcer counted down the final seconds “4-3-2-1!” Sutton came out the goal and booted the ball into the back of the net.  However, the goal did not count because time had expired.

The defensive efforts by Louisville were spear-headed by the play of goalie Austin Terra who had several fantastic saves on the evening.  Austin Hallas also got the Leopards out of trouble many times deep in their own end.

Despite the battle, Marlington poured in four more goals to close the game at 5-0.  The Dukes first two goals of the second half came in a span of 37 seconds from Todd Dickerhoof and Courtlen Vizzuso to give Marlington a 3-0 lead at the 28:11 mark.  Then lightning struck twice as the Dukes scored another pair of goals in a span of 39 seconds starting at the 11:01 mark.  Both Jake Henderson and Sutton scored that pair.

The Leopards are now just 1-14-2 against the Dukes all-time including 1-3 in tournament play against Marlington.  Marlington will host the Alliance Aviators in the District Championship Saturday, while the Leps finish the season 10-8.
