Boys Basketball Will Host New Philadelphia in Sectional

The Louisville Leopards drew the 8th Seed Sunday in the DI Canton/Copley blended District Beatty's Sports Leopard Winter Hat 2Tournament Draw. They will host #24 Seed New Philadelphia in the DI Copley Sectional Semifinals on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:00 PM.

The winner of this contest would then face the winner of #22 Seed Canton McKinley at #12 Seed Medina Highland Sectional Semifinal matchup. If the Leopards beat the Quakers, they will also host one of these teams in the DI Copley Sectional Finals on Saturday, March 7 at 7:00 PM. The Sectional Champion will then more than likely face top seeded Jackson in the District Semifinals at CopleyHigh School on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 PM.

Louisville Vs. New Philadelphia Matchup

New Philadelphia is currently 8-12 on the season and fell to all three of their common opponents with Louisville. The Quakers lost on at home against Marlington 61-49 on December 27 in the Barnett Realtors Holiday Classic, fell at home to Canton Central Catholic 57-39 on January 27, and lost at Carrollton 53-39 on February 7. The Leopards defeated the Dukes 91-78 at home on January 16 (with the rematch to come February 20 at Marlington), fell to the Crusaders 67-65 in a home game back on January 2, and also swept the season series with the Warriors winning 66-33 at home on January 9 and 67-38 in their most recent contest at Carrollton on February 10.

In recent history, Louisville has lost the last three meetings against New Philadelphia with the most recent a 59-43 loss on the road back on December 23, 2013. The most recent series game at LHS came on January 15, 2013 with the Quakers winning 64-35. The last time the Leopards downed the Quakers was at New Philadelphia on December 23, 2010, a 56-44 win for Louisville. The last home victory over the Quakers was a 74-64 win that came on January 5, 2008. New Philadelphia leads the known all-time series 10-7, but Louisville holds a 5-3 edge in the series when playing at home.

DI Canton/Copley Blended District Seed Order

In terms of the seeding, the Leopards received 465 points from the draw vote and picked up the 8th seed. Akron Ellet gave Louisville the most votes with 22 (or the 7th seed).
