Boys Basketball Rolls to Victory in Season Opener
Louisville 79, Salem 55
The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the visiting Salem Quakers 79-55 Friday Evening in the Season Opener at LHS.
Drew Noble scored a game-high 26 points, pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds, and had 2 blocks to lead the Leopards. Jared Holland & Chris Libertore also finished with 11 points and 2 steals each, while Jake Pukys led the team in assists with 4.
Louisville never trailed after the first quarter, which saw them take a 20-12 lead. Salem outscored Louisville 20-19 in the second quarter, but the Leopards held the edge in the third 17-13 and the fourth 23-10.
Louisville dominated on the boards pulling down 41 rebounds compared to the opposition’s 19. The Leopards also finished with 21 rebounds off the offensive glass, which helped generate second chance scoring opportunities all night long. Louisville capitalized by shooting 48% (29 of 60) from the field and 31% (4 of 13) from beyond the arch.
The Quakers (0-2, 0-1) were led by Jon Gerace who finished with team-highs of 15 points and 6 rebounds. Trey Toothman also hit 4 of Salem’s 5 made three-pointers to finish with 13 and DJ Pullie broke double digits by adding 10. Dan Laut also had a game-high 5 assists for Salem.
With the victory, Louisville has now defeated Salem in five consecutive meetings. The Leopards are now 6-3 against the Quakers since Salem joined the NBC in 2011.
