Boys Basketball Moves to DI, Girls Change Tourney Location
The Louisville Leopards Boys Basketball team will no longer be playing at the Field House come tournament time. Louisville’s 9th-11th grade 2010 enrollment was 10 boys over the Division II cut propelling them into Division I. The Leopards will be playing in the Alliance District that includes three other Stark County teams: GlenOak, Hoover, & Lake. Here’s a list of all the teams within the District:
1. Austintown Fitch
2. Boardman
3. Canfield
4. Youngstown East
5. GlenOak
6. Green
7. North Canton Hoover
8. Howland
9. Uniontown Lake
10. Louisville
11. Kent Roosevelt
12. Warren G. Harding
Although the boys basketball team is entering Division I, most other boys sports are remaining in their respective divisions…barely. Louisville’s boys underclassman enrollment in 2010 was 378, the cut off for Division II in both baseball and boys soccer was that exact number. Had one more boy be enrolled at Louisville last year, then Football & Boys Swimming would be the only two Division II sports left at LHS. You can see a full breakdown of each Louisville sport in the table below:

Every girls sport in now Division I as Louisville 2010 girls underclassman enrollment was 419. The Lady Leopards have competed at the Division I level for several years now so this isn’t really a change for them. However, since the Boys Division I tournament now being held at Alliance, the girls tournament location has been moved to Walsh University. The Lady Leps will compete amongst familiar foes from last year’s Division I District and some new foes. Here’s a look at all the teams from the Division I Walsh District for 2011-12:
1. Canton McKinley
2. GlenOak
3. Green
4. North Canton Hoover
5. Massillon Jackson
6. Uniontown Lake
7. Louisville
8. Massillon Perry
9. Canton Timken
10. Massillon Washington
11. Wooster
12. New Philadelphia
