Boys Basketball Falls At Canton McKinley 75-60
Canton McKinley 75, Louisville 60
The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Canton McKinley Bulldogs 75-60 at Canton Memorial Field House Saturday Night. With the loss, Louisville falls to 1-1 on the season.
Drew Noble finished with a team-high 16 Points and a game-high 10 Rebounds to lead the Leopards. Jake Pukys also made 4 of 6 three-pointers to finish with 15 points. Pukys also tallied 6 assists and Jake Adams hit double digits with 10 points.
Louisville’s first and only lead came early on the second quarter at 17-15. The game remained close throughout the first half with McKinley holding a 33-30 lead at the break. The Bulldogs pulled away in the third quarter outscoring the Leopards 24-11. Canton McKinley would lead by as many as 24 before Louisville outscored them 19-18 in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs were led by D. Straughter who hit 5 three-pointers, finished with a game-high 22 points, and recorded 4 steals. L. Toles also scored 14 points, had 4 assists, 3 steals and T. Wood added 10 points.
Louisville held an advantage on the boards 30-28 and had a higher shooting percentage from the field at 46% (22 of 48) than McKinley at 44% (24 of 54). The difference in the game was the Bulldogs ability to force takeaways as they recorded 17 steals in forcing 21 Leopards turnovers.
This was the first meeting between the two squads since meeting in the Tournament on March 9, 1982. Louisville is now 1-7 against Canton McKinley all-time.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to West Branch to take on the Warriors on Friday, December 11. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow at 7:30 PM.
