Boys Basketball Earns Road Win at Massillon

Louisville 71, Massillon 55

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball team defeated the host Massillon Tigers 71-55 at Beatty's White Leopards HatWashington High School Tuesday Night. With the win, Louisville improves to 3-1 on the season.

Drew Noble led the Leopards with game-highs of 19 points and 16 rebounds. Chris Libertore also dropped in 15 points, Jake Pukys scored 12 points, and Brody Hahn & Jake Adams combined for 9 assists.

Massillon got off to a fast start in taking an 8-3 advantage just 84 seconds into the game. However, it would be their last lead of the game as Louisville answered with a 10-0 run and never looked back. The Leopards won the battle on the boards 28-17 and out-shot the Tigers from the field 62% (24 of 39) to 37% (22 of 59). Louisville also made 5 of 11 three-pointers (46%) and hit home 18 of 26 free throws (69%).

Massillon (2-1) was led by Todd Broyles who tallied a team-high 16 points. Brenden Trammell also Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videoscored 11 and Jacoby Sims added 9 for the Tigers.

Tuesday’s matchup was the first time Louisville and Massillon met on the court in Boys Basketball since 1984 and the first time the Leopards defeated the Tigers since they won 74-66 back on February 12, 1982. With the win, Louisville now trails the all-time series 5-14 with a 2-6 mark at Massillon. The only other time the Leopards won at WHS was a 72-60 victory over the Tigers on January 17, 1975

The Leopards JV Team finished on the short-end 75-61 on what turned out to be free throw shooting Order Leopard Nation Highlight Videocontest with the host Massillon Tigers Tuesday. With the loss, Louisville drops to an even 2-2 on the year.

Brandon Wahl hit 2 three-pointers and finished with a game-high 16 points for the Leopards. Jared Mathie also poured in 14 and Louis Johnson hit double digits with 10 for Louisville.

The Tigers were led by Anthony Ballard who also scored a game-high 16 points. Jalen Kirskey also scored 14, Terrance Pierce scored 13, and Kamden Manweiler added 11 for Massillon.

The two teams combined for 54 fouls and shot 77 free throws. The Leopards made 24 of 33 (73%) shots from the line, while the Tigers converted 29 of 44 (66%) free throws.
