Baseball Jackson Polar Bears Freeze Leopards 8-3

Jackson 8, Louisville 3

After Louisville took a 1-0 first inning lead, Jackson scored eight unanswered en rout to an 8-3 victory at LHS Wednesday Evening.  The top three hitters in the Leopards lineup Kyle White, Riley Groves, and Mike Kelly each had 2 hits a piece.

The Leopards got on the board first when Jon Crank singled home Groves in the top of the first inning.  Louisville did not score again until the eighth inning when Connor Ruffier got on base via a single, advanced to second when White singled in the next at-bat, and took the final two bases via erratic pitching.  Kelly’s infield single then scored White from third to make it 8-3 Polar Bears.

On the mound, Joey Duckworth pitched 6.1 innings against a strong Jackson squad, gave up five earned runs, and struck out 9.

Jake Miller went 2-for-3 and scored 2 runs for Jackson.  Jeff Edwards hit a 2-run single in the fourth for the Polar Bears as well.  Finally, Andrew Stalnaker and Seth Vellucci each added an RBI for the visitors.
