Baseball Falls to Canton South in Extras

Canton South 2, Louisville 1, 9 innings

Dillon Stertzbach pitched eight innings, gave up one earned run, struck out ten, and banged out two hits of his own on offense, but it wasn’t enough as Louisville fell in extra innings at Canton South. The Wildcats’ Noah Mallen hit a game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth to give Canton South the walk off victory and hand the Leopards their third straight loss. The Wildcats outhit the Leopards 13-5, but Louisville remained in the game when Chad Neff drove in Jake Duvall in the top of the seventh to send the game into extra frames. South’s Logan Bowles shutout the Leps for the final nine outs and also went 4-for-4 at the plate, while Deonte Settles also had three hits for the Wildcats. Louisville still remains a game up on several teams in the NBC Standings, but will be playing to maintain that lead when they host Canton South in a re-match Thursday.
