Louisville Ascends Past Avon on Senior Night – Girls Lacrosse

Louisville 12, Avon 8

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team defeated the visiting Avon Eagles 12-8 Saturday Afternoon at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the Beatty's Sports Blue Shirt Under Armour Spring 2017Senior Night victory, Louisville improves their unbeaten mark to 11-0.

Alexa Oberster and Mandy Wesely bother scored 6 goals each to lead the Lady Leopards. All 12 goals scored were unassisted. The pair combined for 9 goals in the opening half as Louisville pulled ahead 9-3 at the 5:29 mark of the first half. 

The Eagles rallied back with two unanswered goals to end the first half. Avon added another pair of scores to start the second half in cutting the deficit to 9-7 with 21:17 remaining in the game.

For nearly 12 minutes the score remained locked as neither team could find the net. Fouls plagued the second half leading to a lot of time bleeding off the clock Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio Adfrom stoppages. The drought finally ended when Wesely weaved her way through the Eagles defense and found the back of the goal.

Wesely would score again less than three minutes later, and not a minute after that Oberster tacked on to the Leopards lead with a backhand score. That 3-0 run gave Louisville a 12-7 advantage with 5:54 to go in the game. The Leopards rolled to victory from there.

Louisville Goalie Celia Keefe turned away the Avon offense all night long in recording 15 saves. Wesely finished with a team-high 4 ground balls. Haley Black, Katie Monter, Maddie Murray, and Tori Sharlow all fielded 3 ground balls each for the Leopards as well.

Louisville will look to complete a perfect regular season when they travel to play at 1-9 Poland on Tuesday.

Louisville Leopards Girls Lacrosse Senior Night Walk-Throughs

Prior to the game, Louisville honored their 3 Leopard Seniors for Senior Night. Seniors included Celia Keefe, Alexa Oberster, and Emily Shea. Leopard Nation would like to personally thank these Seniors for their leadership in helping to build a dominate Girls Lacrosse Program in just two years! Best of luck on all your post-high school endeavors! 

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Poland to take on the Bulldogs on Tuesday, May 9 at 6:00 PM looking for the perfect season.
