2-Time NBC Champions Teammates to be Opponents in College

Brianna Libertore & Mackenzie Storlie Stark Summit All-Star Classic

Former Lady Leopards Basketball player Brianna Libertore made the decision about a month ago to play basketball at Walsh University.  Libertore had originally planned to walk-on at Cleveland State, but felt more comfortable in becoming a Cavalier.

Now that she made the change, she will be competing Great Lakes Intercollegiate Beatty's Sports Back To School SaleConference that includes teams like Ashland, Malone, and yes…Tiffin.  The Tiffin Dragons jersey is the uniform that fellow Lady Leopards player Mackenzie Storlie will be wearing during the 2012-13 season.

The two were the focal point of two Lady Leopards back-to-back Outright NBC Girls Basketball Titles the past two seasons.  Now they will find themselves on opposite sides of the ball.

“It’s going to be really weird,” Storlie said of competing against her former teammate.

Familiarity will not be vacant for Libertore though, as she will also team up with another former Lady Leopard at Walsh.  Alyssa Jones, who was instrumental in the Lady Leopards 20-3 NBC Title season in 2011-12, will be putting her Cavalier uniform on for the second year.

Although Storlie will not have any Louisville graduates accompanying her, she will find herself comfortable in the green and yellow.  The Dragons just recently had another Lady Leopard, Mandy Jaeb, graduate from the point guard position.  Jaeb finished her career with the second most points, most free throws, and highest free throw percentage in Tiffin girls basketball history.  Storlie should fill her shoes just fine.

Bri and Mac will lace it up against each other for the first time on January 19 when Tiffin travels to Walsh University.  The rematch will take place in Tiffin on February 16.  No matter what the outcome is we will know one thing, these Louisville graduates will represent the Lady Leopards tradition at the next level.
