2-Time Defending Champs Show Might, Mercy Leopards 17-1

Louisville Vs. Hoover Softball 2013 Scoreboard

North Canton 17, Louisville 1, 6 Innings

The 2-time defending state champion North Canton Hoover Vikings came to Louisville and flexed their muscles Monday evening. The Vikings pounded out 22 hits during a 17-1, 6 inning victory.

Louisville became the first team all season to take Hoover past five innings, but the Vikings erupted for 9 runs on 11 hits in the top of the sixth to inflate the score.

The Lady Leopards only run came in the fourth inning.  Annie Woolf, who went 3 for 3 for the Leps, singled to start the inning. Lexi Givens came in as a courtesy runner for Beatty's Sports Softball Shirt 2013Woolf immediately after that and took second base via Jordan Monnot’s sacrifice bunt. Two batters later, Kylie Zifer appeared to have hit an inning ending ground ball to second. But the throw to first went wide allowing Givens to score from second.

That’s all the Leopard offense could muster, but the Vikings did not shy away from scoring. Jenna Lilley drove in 5 runs to lead North Canton, Ally Farrah scored 4 runs, and Kathleen Shier hit a solo home run.

The loss also marks the first and only loss ever for Leopards pitcher Gianna Falcone who is now 22-1 for her career.  Her 22 straight victorious decisions is more than likely a school record and she still managed to fan 4 Vikings during the contest.  The Leopards are now 4-34 against Hoover all-time and the Vikings have taken 11 out of the last 12.
