10 Lady Leopards Score During Biggest Home Win Ever

FULL VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS:

Louisville 11, Canton South 0

Just one game after the Lady Leopards set the school single game scoring record on the road, they earned their biggest home victory ever.  Ten different Louisville players scored in an 11-0 rout of the Canton South Wildcats Wednesday night in Louisville.

The Lady Leps got on the scoreboard first when Tara Stevens fed a pass from the far left side of the field and into the goal box.  Freshman Rachel Baughman dribbled the ball to the left away from the goalie and into the net for the score.

Stevens again helped out on the next Louisville goal when she advanced the ball into the penalty box before crashing into two Wildcat defenders.  Senior Michelle Patterson finished what Stevens started by kicking the ball off a Canton South defender and into the net.

The Leps quickly got the ball back on the ensuing kickoff and Baughman found a streaking Sarah Jaroszyk who buried it in the right side of the net for the Louisville score.  Just sixteen seconds after the second goal was scored the Leopards had a 3-nil lead.

The fourth goal came when Baughman broke free on a fast break, faked out the goalie, and flushed it home for her second goal of the contest.

Another fast break allowed Sophomore Vanessa Katich to score her second goal in as many games.  Then, a little over a minute later, Louisville made the spread six goals when Sophomore Halie Barton centered up Kayla Shankel who belted the ball into the top right corner of the goal.

Louisville’s final goal of the half came when Freshman Jessica Hamsher kicked home a grounder from the middle of the penalty box.  The final 11:54 expired off the clock and Louisville took a 7-0 lead into the half.

Louisville’s first goal of the second half came via a beautiful lead pass by Cynthia Skolosh.  The speedy Barton blew by defenders and socked it into the left side of the net to give Louisville an 8-0 advantage with 25:32 still left to play.

Another Leopards fast break eight minutes later allowed Stevens to squeak the ball in-between South’s goalie and another red defender to make the score 9-0 Lady Leps.  Then, Skolosh again made another fine lead pass, this time to Liz Stefanik who buried it home to put the Lady Leps into double digits for the second straight game.  Stefanik on the next scoring play lobbed a pass to Mackenzie Storlie, who was just behind the goal box.  Storlie got control of the ball and rifled it into the top of the net making her the tenth Lady Leopard to score in the game.

The Lady Leps out-shot the Wildcats 32-1 and Louisville’s defense didn’t allow Canton South to attempt a single corner kick.  Every South threat was stopped quickly by Skolosh, Samantha Keefe, Kelly Miller, and a host of many other defenders.  Louisville improves to 6-3 on the season, 2-2 in the NBC, and 5-0 against the Wildcats all-time.
